Hello! I grew up in New Paltz, New York, where I spent my time swimming, hiking and playing ska music.
I went to Northeastern University in Boston. At school, I completed a business degree focused on entrepreneurship, and minored in music. Recently I have been recording live music and collaborating with musicians in my home-studio. soundcloud.com/eric-santagada
I love music, and spend my time playing bass and other instruments. The American Music Project spawned from all of these interests and experiences. I would like to understand American music through its cities – the histories, the people, the sounds – and share whatever I find.
My name is Marie Sullivan. I was born and raised in Easthampton, Massachusetts where I spent most of my days biking around town, reading, and listening to my Walkman. I attended Northeastern University where I studied Media Production and Spanish. I spent a year teaching English in Peru and Chile and studied film in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am passionate about documentary filmmaking and produced my first short film “Finders Keepers” in 2011. The film won Northeastern’s Entrepreneurial Spirit award and led me to pursue the American Music Project. I have always loved music and I look forward to capturing the heartbeat of our selected cities through the eye of a lens.
Hi folks! My name is Charlie. I began my studies at Rhodes University located in the blues rich city of Memphis Tennessee. After a year I transferred to Northeastern University where I began studying English and busking the streets of Boston. Before graduating, my lust for music and travel took me on a 5 month journey across the states to various music hubs, attractions and couches as I played the streets of the country for gas money, all the way keeping a daily journal of my findings.
In 2010 I recorded two independent folk albums in Newton, Mass. The next year I went home and created the Ruggles Modern Art Show which is two years running now. Now, I am graduated, have a number of art and music ventures under my belt and I’m thrilled to be the lucky guy who gets to join Eric and Marie on their Lomaxian adventure across the south.
You could say I’ve been around the block: Born in Princeton, NJ, High School in Charlotte, NC, studied music abroad in Trinidad & Tobago, spent a year working for the Vancouver International Jazz Festival in British Colombia (where my parents now reside), traveled extensively throughout Europe, and am about to graduate with a degree in Music Industry (Minors in Business & Ethnomusicology) from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
Music, Film, and Travel are my passions, so when I was humbled by the offer to join this amazing group of musicians/filmakers/
